Crash Platform As A Service (CPaaS)

CPaaS A Breakthrough, New Platform-as-a-Service Approach for State Crash Data and State Data Electronic Collection

How is CPaaS different and what is Platform as a Service (PaaS)?

To date, most Crash systems have relied upon customized, one-off software that runs within the state’s infrastructure, or outsourced proprietary systems often times yielding data ownership to the vendor. With CPaaS you decide who has access to the data, not anyone else. Platform-as-a-Service is a new cloud computing model that provides infrastructure, configurable workflows, and the tools for each state to extend and enhance their Crash service model while promoting shared economies of scale and synergies within a single instance of software.

More than simple data entry, CPaaS provides cleansing/validation, data warehousing, analytics, and reporting of Crash data. Equally, CPaaS can adapt and evolve as needs and requirements change – e.g., multi-modal crash data (pedestrians, bicycles, scooters, etc.), Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria (MMUCC) additions or changes.

  • Includes extensive data validation for increased data uniformity, completeness, and timeliness within State and Federal (MMUCC) standards
  • Provides real-time integration and data validation with adjacent systems, and overnight Electronic Data Transfer (EDT) using NEIM Information Exchange Package Documentation (IEPD)
  • Leverages AI-based redaction to increase throughput and accuracy.
You can use CPaaS to empower transportation, law enforcement and industry stakeholders by providing uniform, complete, timely, and accurate data that is accessible through common technology-agnostic and data-interchange formats (e.g., NIEM).  CPaaS is configured to fit the unique needs of state crash teams and identifies opportunities where tedious tasks can be streamlined, allowing crash analysts to allocate more time in efforts supporting state and municipal safety strategies and planning.

A new Crash system in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Accelare’s CPaaS approach replaced the Massachusetts DOT legacy crash system in an unprecedented nine months using ServiceNow’s highly extensible Platform as a Service (PaaS).

The effort included migrating years of historical data, extensive data validation, real-time integration with Driver, Vehicle, and Roadway systems.
