CPaaS – A Breakthrough, New Platform-as-a-Service Approach for State Crash Data and State Data Electronic Collection
To date, most Crash systems have relied upon customized, one-off software that runs within the state’s infrastructure, or outsourced proprietary systems often times yielding data ownership to the vendor. With CPaaS you decide who has access to the data, not anyone else. Platform-as-a-Service is a new cloud computing model that provides infrastructure, configurable workflows, and the tools for each state to extend and enhance their Crash service model while promoting shared economies of scale and synergies within a single instance of software.
More than simple data entry, CPaaS provides cleansing/validation, data warehousing, analytics, and reporting of Crash data. Equally, CPaaS can adapt and evolve as needs and requirements change – e.g., multi-modal crash data (pedestrians, bicycles, scooters, etc.), Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria (MMUCC) additions or changes.
Accelare’s CPaaS approach replaced the Massachusetts DOT legacy crash system in an unprecedented nine months using ServiceNow’s highly extensible Platform as a Service (PaaS).
The effort included migrating years of historical data, extensive data validation, real-time integration with Driver, Vehicle, and Roadway systems.
